My daughter told me that we need to eat all the colors of the rainbow. After rummaging in the fridge for a few minutes, I was happy to accommodate. Rainbow: tomatoes, carrots, corn, peas, blueberries and grapes. Sun: cheese. Flowers: blackberries and green beans in a field of brown rice.
The only food left on her plate after lunch – with no nagging from me to stay at the table until she was finished or to take more bites – was a couple of green beans and a bit of the rice.
That is absolutely, utterly, and completely impressive and creative! Wow! 🙂
Janene – Ah, the measures parents will take to make sure their children eat well! Another hit recently was cutting the middle out of a piece of bread with a cookie cutter, then frying an egg inside the shape. The only problem was that I had made the yolk runny, and she picked up the whole thing just like a piece of toast and tried to eat it. That was a little messy! Next time I’ll make a firm yolk. 🙂
brilliant i say…brilliant!
🙂 Thanks, Heidi! How are things in Kansas this fine October?
I love this idea! It would work with my youngest daughter but I’m not too sure about my older 3 kids. But it’s worth a try. Thanks!
Also thanks for commenting on my giveaway! Good luck!
Thanks, Britta! I don’t know how old your older kids are, but my daughter likes making pictures herself…it’s the only time she has permission to play with her food!
I’ve been enjoying browsing your beautiful blog.
What a great idea and very pretty too. I’m going to tell my friend about this and maybe it will work on her picky grandson…
Thanks, Lori. Hope that helps your friend! It sure worked wonders with my girl.
